Summertime Fun!

Marin and I have been keeping busy, busy with lots of summertime fun in the hot, hot sun!

Wednesday afternoon we went to the butterfly house. It was Marin's first trip there, and she loved all of the flower gardens as much as the butterflies flying around her. Marin likes to get up close to the flowers and put her nose right in them to smell their nectar just like grandma taught her. We walked around the grounds, and visited the children's museum room inside where she was able to touch artifacts found on the grounds, and where we welcomed a relief from the heat.

Thursday we had an (almost) blind playdate. My mom has a teacher friend who has a son who is just a month younger than Marin, so she set us up on a playdate. I had met Natalie and Jackson at my mom's school before, but this was our first time hanging out- hence the (almost) blind playdate. Perhaps it's the way of the future? :) Natalie and Jackson came to our house first so the children could get acquainted, and after a few "mines" from Marin, they quickly made friends and were sharing in no time. We played in the basement playroom before heading to the pool, which is the only acceptable place to spend any length of time outside in this heat. A good time was had splashing and playing by all, before we headed home for naps. Both were asleep before either made it home.

Today Marin and I were invited to an end of summer ladies luncheon at my mom's house. We had a great time eating, talking, and sipping wine with Barb and Kathy, who are also teachers and, like my mom, will be heading back to school next week, while Marin played nicely at our feet. Lunch was delicious; Marin had two desserts. Why should she want it any other way?

Marin and I have a lot of fun planned for next week too. Have I mentioned that I love this new gig?

So happy that you are loving staying at home. Such a treat. Marin is lucky to have such a fun Mommy!
