Meet Casson. Casson is our Elf on the Shelf. For those who many be unfamiliar with the concept, The Elf on the Shelf is a elf doll with coordinating story book, who comes out during holiday time and watches over the children in the household to observe their behavior. At the end of each day, after the children are asleep, the elf flies back to the North Pole and reports back to Santa about how the children behaved that day. You can tell your elf Christmas wishes but you can't touch him or his magic will disappear. The elf flies back just in time for the children to wake up and each morning he is in a new spot, making it a game for the children to find him. Brilliant. They are everywhere. And at $29.99 a pop don't you wish you had thought of it first? ;)
When the elf first comes to live with you, the children must give it a name. Marin named our elf Emilie (exactly what she names everything; hence the fish Emilie and 25 dolls name Emilie). When we told Marin our elf was a boy she said she wanted to name him Casson. No clue where that name came from, but we think it was maybe derived from Calvin, her baby cousin. In any case, Marin has had a blast finding Casson every day. It will be sad when Casson has to go back with Santa on Christmas Eve, but he'll be back next year after Thanksgiving.
When my sister-in-law and brother-in-law came to visit at the beginning of the month, their elf followed them here. Wouldn't you know it, Casson and Marvin (their elf) got into a little bit of mischief. They had a snowball fight and left evidence (mini marshmellows) for the kids to find the next day. They also left a note saying that they were having so much fun together.
Casson left a gift for the girls one day (Prep and Landing on DVD) but otherwise has been pretty quiet. My cousin's elf, Beethoven, has had all kinds of adventures like zip lining through the kitchen and bungee jumping off the couch. My sister-in-law and brother-in-law's elf has left snow angels on the counter, and even sported some Mr. Potato head glasses for a while so he could keep an extra careful eye on their behavior. The elf on the shelf is really fun, but the best part is Marin running down the stairs every morning, subsequently searching the house before finally squealing, "I found him!!! Theeeeeer's Casson!! That silly Casson!"

Marvin and Casson must've chatted while they were together, because Marvin also left Prep & Landing one morning for the kids! :)
Sounds kind of like Jason:). Great work with the Elf. My kids constantly ask why we don't have one...but even the tooth fairy is forgetful around here...I can't picture that many nights straight of having to remember...and be creative. From the looks and sounds of it, your tooth fairy is bound to be very prepared and organized!
